Patient Story

Cleared for take-off

Mike — a pilot, rock climber, and scuba diver — shattered the orbital floor around his left eye after a seemingly minor accident at home. The injury left him with double vision and threatened his ability to ever fly again.

Referred to Professor Holmes and Mr Bhatti at The Royal London Hospital, the team determined standard treatment was insufficient. A custom 3D-printed titanium implant was designed and fitted, restoring his orbital anatomy and, eventually, his licence to fly.
